SSG Benefits of Membership

Beyond the general - banding together as a “tribe” to exchange ideas and information, SSG also offers the following benefits to our members:

Presence on the SSG Website
Each member can send a song to us for inclusion on our music page - and you can update as you like
We will link to your web page on our “Member’s Links” page - and would appreciate a link back to SSG from yours!
We also have an SSG Spotify playlist that you can ask to have songs added.

Performance opportunities
As they arise and as we are able. We fit artists to every opportunity (and host venue) and we have to try to spread the love as much as possible, but we have over 70 active members.
We will not ask you to play for free. Some opportunities will be better than others, financially speaking, and some may include other than cash consideration. Part of our mission is to make sure that the artist is appreciated sustainably and appropriately.

Funding a new original music project?
SSG will contribute $25 to your project (a maximum of once per 24 months of membership).

Compilation CDs
SSG produced our premier compilation CD with 20 member tunes jn 2019.
A great promo tool, hundreds(?) were given out at Nerfa and since.
We are considering doing a "Holiday/Winter" themed CD for this season.

Folk Alliance International Membership
SSG is a "Small Group" FAI organization member. When we are able, we participate in the regional FAI conference called NERFA.
We create a SSG member room where our members attending can have a guerilla showcase spot,  come to hang out with other members, get snacks and beverages or sign up to host their own session.
We also rent space in the exhibit hall where all members can greet the festival attendees and hand out CDs and publicity information.
As FAI members we can have a number of discounted admissions to all of the conferences offered, not just NERFA. If you are interested in attending a different region, national or international conference and want to use our membership discount we would be glad to facilitate.

NJ Arts Scene
SSG participates in the NJ arts community to the extent we are able.
We have received three grants from the Morris Arts organization and we have gained recognition with other arts organizations within the state.  SSG has also been a member of ArtPride.
